Open Country Dairy is New Zealand's largest privately owned dairy processor, collecting milk from more than 1,300 South and North Island farms and manufacturing whole-milk powder, skim-milk powder, butter, anhydrous milk fat, and infant-formula base powder at plants in Waharoa (Waikato) and Studholme (Canterbury). The company exports in excess of 80 per cent of its production to China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East under bulk commodity and value-added arrangements. Open Country Dairy's Waharoa plant is one of New Zealand's single-largest dairy manufacturing sites by throughput.
